Would love to know more about the old shipyard. We had a tug for years that was built there in 1919 or 1920. She’s still out there earning her keep now under the name of the Pender chief.
Just thought I’d comment on the off chance that there might be records that remain if the old shipyard from those days. It would be great to have this history

    • Thanks for writing, Bill. I have definitely seen the Pender Chief out on the water. Lovely old vessel.

Re: Ocean Falls shipyard – I wasn’t aware that boats were built there as well as repaired, but it doesn’t surprise me to learn this, considering the size of the old shipyard building (still standing when we were there). I haven’t (so far) been able to find any info about this, but you might try contacting the Ocean Falls Museum website, and seeing if anyone involved can give you more info. It’s at: http://www.oceanfallsmuseum.com/History.htm

      Good luck!

    • Bill, a further thought is that the editors of Nauticapedia.ca (which does list the Pender Chief among its records) might know more about the old Pacific Mills shipyard at Ocean Falls.
